Don’t Be the Typical Annoying Salesperson

Everyone hates being sold to; I know I do. Being a great salesperson takes a lot of hard work and dedication. I love being in sales, because it is challenging and rewarding. Absorbing as much knowledge as possible and figuring out how to utilize all of it correctly is the key to success. There are so many resources out there, it can be overwhelming. Sorting through all the useless information and finding what is helpful can be a big task.

From all I have learned so far, below are a few of my favorite tips to being a great salesperson:

  • Be passionate. Without passion, you will struggle.
  • Have a positive attitude. It will get you through the hard days and help you succeed on the good days. Attitude is everything.
  • Be genuine. Honesty and compassion is a must!
  • Be prepared. Know your consumer, know your goals, know what you are going to ask and say.
  • Be organized. Have a plan, manage time effectively and keep your work space organized.
  • Build relationships. Engage, network and get to know your consumers. Earn their trust and respect - this will go a long way.
  • Don’t take it personal. Grow thick skin because you are going to need it!
  • Learn and grow. There is always something you can learn to become a better salesperson.
