Welcome to Taiwan’s Pavilion of Dreams
Have you ever thought about the relationship between flowers and technology? Have you ever thought about being a flower? Or could you imagine turning yourself into an insect and flying around flowers? The Pavilion of Dreams is full of surprises and is the first pavilion to interact with the audience at the Taipei Flora Expo.
Now, you have the opportunity to enjoy flowers in an entirely new way. Through advanced technology, we will take you to the world of flowers, where you can experience the diversity and beauty of flowers.
The Taipei International Flora Exposition is an annual event consisting of a wide array of expos related to flowers, plants and landscaping. The most famous of these expose was 2010’s Pavillion of Dreams. Pavilion of Dreams is the only exhibition area without any real flowers. The structure is filled with fun and surprises and is built using Taiwan’s most advanced technologies developed by the Industrial Technology Research Institute, including RFID (radio-frequency identification), naked-eye stereoscopic 3D display, electro-controlled flexible chromic LCD panel, UWB touch-free physiologic detection and flexible speakers.
Huge animated mechanical flowers can be seen hanging from the ceiling and insect sounds and birdcalls are heard through flexible loudspeakers made of paper. Flowers blossom and bright lighting alternates colors, both in the rhythm of music, slowly ushering you into a dreamlike world. A paper forest showcases advanced interactive and sensor technologies. Plants, varying in shape and color, grow and blossom on interactive 3D touchscreens with your hand gestures, without 3D glasses. A 360-degree panorama theatre displays the life cycle of plants, flight of butterflies and the changes of mountains, rivers and the earth.
