Of all the remote desktop utilities, LogMeIn is my favorite. Remote desktop software can be invaluable to an artist waiting on his/her renders. This tool can help you monitor your work PC from your phone or home computer.

I often use it to check my render, or start the next batch, even transfer files for a client when I am not at my desk. Another great use for LogMeIn is controlling other render boxes from your desk. If you need to access multiple machines, you can have each desktop loaded in tabs on your browser. The paid version of Ignition will even allow you to download files to your iPad from your home PC. The setup is simple, and there is a free version available.
