Successful mobile apps begin with good UI/UX
The business of creating mobile applications is becoming easier with the introduction of new SDK’s (Software Developer Kits), thus lowering the point of entry in app development for a thirteen year old, or some guy in Pakistan. A successful (I define success as lots of people using it regularly) application isn’t about how many cool features you can pack into a small screen, or the problem you think you’re solving by creating the app in the first place. You can have tons of features built into your app designed to make Myspace relevant again, but if the user’s experience isn’t memorable they’re not coming back, and they’re certainly not going to tell their friends to download it.
A mobile app should make people feel compelled to tap and dig deeper. It should be visually appealing, clean, intuitive, and have features people will use on a regular basis. The UI should be visually planned out at the same time features are being planned using whiteboards, wire frames, and backs of napkins.
Keep it simple, and make sure all the features work all the time. It’s too easy for someone to give a good app a bad review because one of the features wasn’t working properly at the time they used it.
I strongly believe we are uniquely positioned to create world-class mobile apps because of the rock stars on our experience team.
